Best on a Budget

Memory foam mattresses are cleaner and more comfortable than regular spring mattresses. Over the last two decades memory foam mattresses have gone from being a novelty item to mainstream. Memory foam mattresses now account for twenty percent of the mattress industries’ sales. When comparing the foam mattress prices make sure to remember to compare the same sizes.

The memory foam material has some distinct advantages to the normal spring mattresses. They are:

  1. Relief of pressure points
When you lay in a bed for a long time, the downward pressure of your weight and gravity and the upward resistance of a conventional mattress can be hard on the soft body tissues and on circulation. With memory foam when you lie down the material adjusts to your weight and shape and doesn’t put upward pressure on your body.

  2. Alignment and support o back and spine
Foam mattresses evenly distribute the weight of your body and support each part of the body individually. The mattresses adapt to the contours of your body and support your back by allowing the spine to stay in a neutral position. A regular spring mattress doesn’t accommodate your shape and causes displacement and pressure on the parts of your body that contact the mattress. Regular mattresses just can’t evenly support all parts of your back and put pressure on the spine.

  3. They are very durable
One of the great things about foam mattresses is that they are very durable. On average they can last around 7 years. Higher quality foam mattresses can last for 10 years. They also don’t start to sag like spring mattresses do.

  4. Accommodation of different sleeping positions.
Memory foam mattresses can support any sleeping position you like. For side sleepers your hips and shoulders are accommodated. Back sleepers can enjoy the benefit of the foam curving to match your spine while still providing support.

  5. They are hypo-allergenic
Foam mattresses do a great job of repelling dust and dust mites. Pet dander and mold can’t get into the foam mattress as easily as the conventional mattress. For people that are sensitive to smells there are some foam mattresses that are specifically designed to prevent chemical smells. They’re a great choice if you have allergies.

  6. They prevent the build-up of dust mites
The design of memory foam mattresses inherently deters a build-up of dust mites. There just isn’t as many crevices ad spaces for them to thrive in. The material is also more dense than a normal mattress and can be easily vacuumed.

  7. The material absorbs motion
When you’re sharing a normal mattress with your partner every time your move the movement is felt all over the bed. This can be a problem for light sleepers. Memory foam absorbs the motion of the person moving and prevents it from disturbing the other sleeper.

  8. Compatible with adjustable beds
Since memory foam mattresses can be bent and can flex they are perfectly compatible with adjustable beds. The foam mattress will be very comfortable on an angle or completely flat.  Sleeping on an angle also will not affect the mattresses durability.

  9. Pain relief and prevention
By providing pressure point relief and support the memory foam mattress inherently lowers pain at those points. By supporting the back properly your whole body begins to feel better. Most users of memory foam mattresses report that they experience less pain in their back, shoulders and hips. And with less pain comes better sleep.

I hope you enjoy my report on foam mattresses. I know they can help you to get a great night’s sleep and to reduce your anxiety. Another plus is that many of the manufacturers will allow you to try the mattresses for a limited time. So, you can send them back if you don’t like them. Make sure to check the manufactures return polity before you buy a foam mattress in my report.

Leesa Mattress

memory foam mattressfoam mattress

Pros: Powerful pressure relief. Lots of hug. Nicely designed cover.

Cons: Some off-gassing but goes away after a few days.

The Leesa Mattress is a fantastic memory foam mattress. You get great value for the price. You can try this mattress for 100 nights before you commit to keeping it. Its made from Avena foam which is designed to allow air-flow and to be cooler. If you’re very sensitive to chemicals you may want to try a different brand. Some users have said that there’s a strong chemical odour which takes a few days to go away. The Leesa gives you a nice hug-like fit and it is cool and comfortable. It has scored very well in long term 8 year durability studies.  Its our #1 Winner because its durability has been tested, and its specifically designed to stay cool. A great thing about Leesa Mattresses is that they donate one mattress to charity for every 10 they sell.

 Casper Sleep Mattress

best memory foam mattress zinus

Pros: Innovative design. Nice finish. Mainly positive reviews. Designed to stay cool.

Cons: Newish brand so long term durability is unknown. Edges are not firm enough.

With the Casper Sleep Mattress you can also try it for 100 days before committing to it. The Casper is a great value and great quality mattress. Since its a fairly new product its long-term durability is still unknown. This is a great mattress for people that like to switch between back sleeping and side sleeping. Its also a better choice than the Leesa if you prefer a more firm mattress. It takes the runner up position simply because we can’t be sure about its longevity and the edges aren’t as firm as the Leesa Mattress.

Tuft & Needle Mattress

twin memory foam mattress king size memory foam mattress

Pros: Great value. Low-risk purchase.

Cons: Some off-gassing when new. Lacks strong edge support. No handles for moving mattress.

The Tuft & Needle memory foam mattress is such a great deal. Its our #1 Winner because of the incredible value you get from this mattress. Its a low-risk purchase because you can try it for 100 nights before you commit to it. There’s also a 10-year warranty which is phenomenal. On the downside, the edge support isn’t the best and could use improvement. This means that the mattress sinks down around the edges when you put weight on the edge. The Tuft & Needle mattress is made from a proprietary Tuft & Needle Adaptive foam that was invented by the company.  Its a fantastic material that breathes well and stays cool. There have been some reports that have found this mattress to be too firm for side sleeping and designed more for people that sleep on their backs. So keep this in mind if you’re not a stomach or back sleeper. This is a fantastic value memory foam mattress.

Lucid 14 Inch Memory Foam Mattress

walmart memory foam mattress full size memory foam mattress

Pros: Superb quality. Breathable cool design. Plush feel.

Cons: Only 30 days trial period. Some off-gassing initially.

The Lucid foam mattress is a nicely designed plush feeling mattress. It features dual memory foam layers. One layer is a 1-inch bamboo charcoal memory foam layer. That layer is designed to remove odours and control moisture while also reducing heat. Theres also a 3″ gel memory foam layer which adapts to the sleepers body shape. The cover is made from a Tencel blend fabric and can be removed for cleaning. There have been reports of a chemical smell which should go away after a few days. What I like about this mattress is that its firm but can still accommodate side sleepers. You can only try this mattress for 30 days before keeping it. Some people have complained that the mattress is too firm. For those reasons its my pick for #2 Winner. You can try and see if you like the firmness before you keep it.

Signature Sleep Memoir Mattress

best foam mattress gel memory foam mattress

Pros: Excellent motion absorbing. Amazing price.

Cons: Some off-gassing initially. Only 1 year warranty and no trial available.

This mattress is an amazing steal for the price. It gives you many of the features of the other more expensive brands but at a huge discount. The Signature Sleep Memoir Mattress is a firm mattress and may not be the best choice if your a side sleeper.  It comes with an easy to clean breathable mattress cover. On the downside there’s no trial period and only a 1 year warranty. For those of you looking to save money this is my #1 Winner pick simply because its basically as good as the premium foam mattresses at a much lower price.  Not being able to try this before you keep may be a deal breaker for you.

Zinus Memory Foam Green Tea Mattress

Pros: Very inexpensive. Good edge support. Good quality. Uses less petroleum oils. Minimal off-gassing.

Cons: Not as cool as other foam mattresses.

The Zinus memory foam mattress is an inexpensive good quality alternative to the other more pricey mattresses. It uses green tea bio-foam and natural plant oils to replace some of the traditional petroleum used in other foam mattresses. This is great if you are sensitive to chemical smells and off-gassing. You can try this mattress for 30-days before you keep it. It also comes with an impressive 10-year warranty. Its my pick for #2 Winner because some people have reported that the mattress doesn’t dissipate as heat well. It also isn’t as well made or as durable as the #1 Winner but thats reflected in the price. This is a good mattress overall and especially good if you’re on a tight budget or need it for a guest room. Another great thing is that this mattress comes in some extra sizes: Narrow Twin, Twin, Twin XL, Full, Short Queen, King, and California King.

We’ve explored some of the great benefits of the memory foam mattress. I hope this report has helped save you time and made it easier for you to get the foam mattress thats right for you. Hopefully soon with the help of your new mattress you’ll begin to have better sleep. We know how important good sleep is for our overall well being. Its also one of the best tools in the fight against anxiety. Also, you’ll start to experience less pain and discomfort in your body.
